PASSING TRAINS PT 40; OM519

 Two special units make a return trip through Hillsdale...

ET44AC 530 is back, with a friend.

Scale Trains ES44AC 2022 is making her way back west, on her second revenue trip. The two are leading OM519, the westbound oil train from Baltimore to Chicago, where it will be handed off to the BNSF.

Even though the tank cars are empty, there is still a buffer car on the head end.

The tank cars are all VMSX (Valero Marketing) owned.

OM519 stretches through the yard. During the Bakken oil boom from 2015-2020, this train was a tri-weekly run. Now, it only runs once a week.

Another APW hopper serves as the rear-end buffer car. Unlike the first car, this one lacks the "star" logo. While there is often a BNSF hopper in the train, this one is "all AP&W."

EXTRA 2022 PT 2

 Last week, we saw Extra 2022 arrive in Hillsdale, with a Scale Trains "demo" unit on the point. Now, the rest of the train...

A set of Alliance Shippers reefer trailers.

A section of the train is comprised of C.R. England equipment, both trailer and containers. This is the only well car in the short train.

More C.R. England equipment, including another container between trailers on the spine car.

The end of the train is all trailers on the last spine car, including a 45' dry van.

Now that's one way to ship beer on a train! (If these hadn't sold out so quick, I might have built up a string of them on the rails!)

The EOT flashes as the train rolls on. (I am working on a solution for the dark corner. There is no outlet back there, so a portable light is needed, but finding one bright enough is a challenge.)

I have a train for next week -I just need to photograph it!

EXTRA 2022 PT1

 A brand-new locomotive is on the rails, passing through Hillsdale...

Scale Trains "demo" ES44AC 2022 is on its first revenue run! Here, the colorful engine leads an intermodal extra. (This was my birthday present!)

The first car is a Trinity 3-unit Twin 28/Triple 57, with a full compliment of Athearn 75th anniversary 53' trailers.

Next is a rare Thrall TWF10 48' well car, with a Class One Model Works 48' container in the well, and a 53' CIE container on top.

After the model mfg's equipment, a string of reefer trailers. In fact, the rest of the train is comprised of reefers! Here, a trio of FFE (Frozen Food Express) trailers follow a black reefer on a 5-unit spine car.

A Swift reefer is the last trailer on the car. The next car has a Wheels Clipper trailer and a pair of 53' reefer containers.

The containers are owned by Axsun Group and CIE Intermodal.
