IN THE YARDS PT28

Passing train MPC-91, seen two weeks ago, left some cars in Hillsdale...
A string of boxcars, loaded with scrap paper for recycling, awaits forwarding to the paper mill.
The big ex-Golden West Service boxcar is also in the yard, awaiting delivery to Johnson Foods.
Two carloads of lumber sit on the opposite end of Hillsdale Yard, for delivery to Smitty Lumber.
On another day, caboose 4312 shows off its wheel splatters on the end of the carbody. Now you know why modern cabooses have splash guards on the end platforms!
A tank car also shows the wheel splatter on the end -very noticeable on the white carbody!

TOWN LIFE PT20

A woman tries to talk her way out of a parking ticket, even though she parked right by the sign that says "NO PARKING"!
Sam waits outside the furniture store for his new recliner, as he talks with one of the managers. Getting a LAZ-E-BOY on your day off, how appropriate!
A FedEx delivery van sits on County Lane as the driver makes her deliveries to the local businesses.
Meanwhile, at the corner of County Ln. and Bank St., sewer work is in progress, as the vacuum truck is at the ready. With fall approaching, keeping the drains open and debris-free will be critical to preventing street flooding.
A CIE truck, pulled by a brand new Kenworth T700, rolls into town, headed for the warehouses downtown. Note the driver of the Honda Civic Del Sol has the roof open; obviously it's a nice day.

PASSING TRAINS PT36; MPC-91 PT2

From last week...
A single tank car is followed by another loaded centerbeam car, and a covered hopper.
The hopper car and the two boxcars behind it will be dropped off for delivery to Johnson Foods.
A trio of molten sulfur cars are in the mix.
The train is filled out with another hopper (a pressure-differential like the previous one), a boxcar, and three more covered hoppers, including a two-bay.
This close up of two of the molten sulfur cars shows that the reporting marks have both different lettering fonts, the car in the center has smaller stencil lettering, while the car on the right has larger conventional lettering.
The plastic pellet hopper near the end shows this weathering and graffiti.
The final car is this CPLX hopper, which has had its top half repainted, but not the bottom half!

PASSING TRAINS PT36; MPC-91 PT1

Train MPC-91 (Manifest, Pittsburgh-Cumberland) rolls into town...
This is a daily train between the two cities.
A pair of AC4400's are in charge.
The first two cars are a trio of two-bay covered hoppers. the first two are lettered "NYC"; they are CSX-owned and are ex-Conrail cars. The third car is a Blue Circle Cement car.
A better view of the cars.
The next two cars are loaded centerbeam bulkhead flatcars. These two will be dropped off for delivery to Smitty Lumber.
A lone tank car is followed by conventional boxcars.
Four of the five boxcars are owned by East Erie Commercial, and are loaded with scrap paper. These, to, will be dropped off here, for delivery to the paper mill in Dale City. The rest of the train will be seen next week. (yes, you are sitting at the grade crossing while late for work!)
