IN THE YARDS PT19

A string of 89' PTTX flatcars sit in the yard, with loads of 80' pipe from Wilson Steel, for a new gas pipeline being built in western Pennsylvania.
A Peterbilt semi-tractor sits on the property. While not frequent, sometimes loads are transferred from rail cars to trucks on the yard track beside the access road, since Hillsdale doesn't have a dedicated team track. The spur beside the factory building in the background is currently disabled, with the switch removed to prevent vandals from causing a derailment.
Sam, Briggs, and two other men enjoy a break outdoors on a warm spring day. Briggs' immaculate Buick LeSabre is always a conversation starter!
As always, ongoing trackwork results in tie replacements. Old, but reliable, the Hillsdale tractor-trailer carries a load of banded stacks of recently replaced ties. Still in good shape, they will be sold to the local garden supply center, who will then sell them to locals for their various landscaping projects; one local farmer is using them to build a small bridge over a creek on his property!
Still more salvaged ties are loaded on retired bulkhead flatcars. These, too, will be sold for re-use else-where. As for the flatcars now in MOW service, more on them later...
