Continuing last week's train...
Among the AUTO-MAX auto carriers on the head end, are these two; one in the older scheme from the first order, and one in the newer scheme from the second order, with the 'star' logo.
As is usually the case, almost all of the AUTO-MAX cars are 'home road'.
Of course, there is always an exception; note the BNSF car. Note also, that all of the cars have been through the "wheel-painting shop"; the trucks have also been weathered for a more realistic appearance.
DBC47 often handles both auto and intermodal traffic between the Midwest and East Coast, and this train is no different, with a sizable string of Schneider National containers following the auto racks.
With an expedited schedule between Chicago and D.C./Baltimore, the train is a favorite of carriers like Schneider, who can move equipment across the country quickly -without paying the premium price for the even faster Gateway Cherokee.More Schneider equipment -and intermodal cars- next week, as we finish the train!

PASSING TRAINS PT25
Appropriate for this Memorial Day weekend, the America units roll through, with train DBC47.
Red, white and blue locomotives on a patriotic day!
As usual, the order is 1776, 1876, and 1976. The railroad tries to keep the units relatively clean for days like this -showcasing the AP&W's American pride!
DBC47 is a "mixed intermodal" train, so it's not uncommon to see autoracks on the head end. More on the rest of this train to come...
Meanwhile, for all my fellow vets, and those that preceded us, this car is for you. Have a great Memorial Day!

PASSING TRAINS PT24
As noted last post, the three BNSF ES44C4's made a return trip through town with a grain train...
With train GM408 in tow, the units roll through Hillsdale Yard. With a string of BNSF hoppers on the front end, this train could be somewhere west of Chicago! One interesting car is this CPLX hopper. Not only was the top half only repainted, but note the location of the reporting marks -and they are in the traditional location on the other side of the car! Also in the train are several hoppers owned by The Andersons. And of course, no AP&W train is complete without at least a few "home" cars!

PASSING TRAINS PT23
The trio of visiting BNSF ES44C4's has returned from Baltimore...
The headlights of the lead engine show under the bridge. The engines race past, on their way back to the Midwest -Chicago.
Note that the engines were not turned while in Baltimore, so now their order is reversed from last week. The three are pulling train GM408; an empty grain movement from Baltimore to Chicago.
