IN THE YARDS PT11

A recently delivered string of Herzog gons sits in the yard, awaiting delivery to a local quarry for loading with boulders. The boulders will then be delivered to a rock crusher for conversion into gravel.
The last cars of DBW10, the local to Wilson Steel Works, sit in the yard, ready to go, including a gon loaded with baled scrap and a "finger-rack" flatcar for rebar loading.
Alongside two more gons of scrap, engine 3163 shows her age with the soot-stained roof and rusty dynamic brake grids. By comparison, engine 1990 is resplendent in her D&H heritage paint scheme; more on her to come in the future...
Sam looks at a co-worker's mini-van -eyeing the rusted roof!
Other workers seem to take better care of their vehicles, as this shot shows.
And lastly...HAPPY EASTER!!!

PASSING TRAINS PT10

I know it's been awhile, but my work schedule left me with little time to anything BUT work! Last weekend, I was one of the host layouts for the James River Division NMRA meet; thank you to the ones who visited my layout! Now, on to the story...
EUH-17 returns from Uniontown with a short string of cars for delivery to local industries.
Engine 8919 slows to a stop as the yard crew prepares to go to work.
Included in the mix are these two tank cars of titanium dioxide (artificial color) for Johnson Foods in Dale City.
Several boxcars of scrap paper for recycling at RO Packaging are also present.
A string of Herzog gons will be delivered to a quarry operation to be loaded with large boulders, which will then be delivered to a rock crushing operation elsewhere.
Rounding out the train, are two covered hoppers of grain for the local feed dealer and a pair of empty boxcars for the paper mill to load up.
