IN THE YARDS PT38

Another look around Hillsdale Yard...
Brad, the security guard, and Dale Williams, day-shift supervisor, discuss security issues in and around Hillsdale Yard.
Several of the men are gathered, awaiting the arrival of GM407, which will be making a crew change before heading on to Baltimore.
A tank car sits in the shop for a a brake shoe replacement.
Sam, Earl, and Robert talk outside the shop on break.
One of the newest work trucks sits outside the shop as well. With its small crane, the truck is perfect for light duty work in and around the yard, including repair/replacement of switch stands, crossing signals, and the battery boxes that power both crossing and lineside signals. While not equipped with the equipment now, in the future this truck will have both a compressor and an electric welder to help facilitate those repair efforts.

MOTHER'S DAY SPECIAL

A look at Hillsdale on Mother's Day...
A mother and child prepare to enter Miss Amy's Candy Store. While preparing to get the kid some candy, Mom was pleasantly surprised to get treated herself by her son! "Happy Mother's Day Mom!"
Another mother walks her son down Market Street, past another mom, trying to use the day to get out of a parking ticket!
A mother and daughter share a shopping trip downtown -and much more.
On this special day, some moms get the limo treatment!
Other moms get treated to a trip on the Dinner Belle.
The Hillsdale Yard crew watches as the Belle returns to Pittsburgh with a full train of guests -and an extra dining car! What a way to the day with mom -a casual train ride through the scenic foothills of southwestern Pennsylvania/ northern Maryland, with a shopping trip in Cumberland, and a special morning brunch and evening dinner to go with it!

TOWN LIFE PT33

On a warm spring day, a rare Plymouth Hemi Barracuda convertible sits with the top down outside World Travel Service. Across the street is another muscle car; a Trans Am with the T-tops removed.
Also on County Lane, a school bus is parked outside the Hickory Pit BAR-B-Q, as Barbara drives by in her BMW -also with the top down. The bus driver is enjoying lunch -but not any beer!
The traffic cones are for the protection of the city crew working on the traffic signal. There should be a cop helping to direct traffic through the intersection!
One of Hillsdale Bus Lines' newest buses rolls into town. In addition to tours, the company also has a long tradition of transporting people from Hillsdale to Pittsburgh, Cumberland and Philadelphia, helping them get to jobs, shopping and sporting events. When the Penguins won the Stanley Cup last year, HBL sent three packed buses to Pittsburgh for the celebrations!
Work has started on the building next to THE MAD HATTER. The ceramic block front has been painted, and the new carpeting is being installed. Tom Franks, of Tom & Russel Contractors, gets ready to go set up for the crew to start on the electrical work. Then the equipment will be installed and set up. Permits and licenses will be the next hurdle. Then, after a final inspection, Taquib Azzaria's dream of restaurant ownership will finally come true!
