SHOP UPDATE

The shop building is back on the layout, with a few important updates...
Now the entrance has a light overhead, and a security keypad for entry.
A storage tank now sits outside. While this is a temporary placement, a future plan may make this a permanent feature, with retention berms and a dispenser set-up for mechanical lube oil. A similar set-up is found outside the maintenance shop in Montveiw Yard here in Lynchburg.
Inside the shop. a new air compressor, and a few parts boxes on the shelves.
And, the biggest addition of all; a stairway and safety railings!
Now, the shop workers can finally reach the second floor to get to the office and the break room. Plus,  they won't have to worry about falling off the edge of the walkway, which makes OSHA happy! Finally, the sign is true!

TOWN LIFE PT4; TRUCKS

A TMC flatbed semi rolls its load through town. It is hauling a piece of machinery for the water treatment plant.
The UPS truck is making its rounds among the major shippers in town. The traditional smaller truck is for smaller packages, this truck is for bigger packages/ shipments. Of course, the internet retailer ships by the semi truckload!
Construction projects are in full swing, as a Big A Construction dump truck heads to a work site.
Another construction truck, this time a cement mixer. The "tag" axle is down, as the truck is loaded.
A CRST semi heads for the warehouses downtown. I like the fact that they paint their tractors gold -even if I'm not to crazy about the Freightliner Cascadias!

IN THE YARDS PT4

A look around Hillsdale Yard...
A concrete barrier has now been placed in front of the tool shop, protecting it and the welding tanks beside it.
An empty kaolin tank car and a loaded center beam flatcar sit together in the yard. The tank car will be forwarded to Uniontown later on EVH17, while the lumber will be delivered to Smitty Lumber by HLG5.
A CSX boxcar also sits in the yard, awaiting forwarding by EVH17 to Uniontown.
Shop workers sit outside under the shelter while on break. The shop itself is currently off the layout being worked on. Some very important details are being added to the interior!
A late evening intermodal rolls through, behind a BNSF GE. The train is IC209, running between Trenton, NJ and Chicago.

PASSING TRAINS PT7; JBHTKC110 PT2

Continuing from last week..
One of JB Hunt's grey "Ocean Service" containers. Apparently, JB Hunt now ships globally, although not too many countries have streets that can handle 53' containers!
A Hunt Wabash Duraplate container rides atop an XPO Logistics container. XPO Logistics is a global shipping and supply chain company which was formed in 2011.
Another XPO Logistics container, this time on top of a JB Hunt Duraplate box.
A string of trailers, starting with a reefer.
Another refrigerated trailer, this one leased from Xtra.
The final trailer is adorned with the original red "Intermodal" logo.
