TOWN LIFE PT 13

All is quiet in the alley behind the public library. Some days, you might find a few teenagers sneaking a smoke (cigs or otherwise), but not today.

The recent stretch of warm, sunny days has been good for top-down driving, as Barbara enjoys a ride in her BMW.
Tony's Garage is doing good business, as two workers discuss the upcoming work. Note the engine lift sitting outside the shop. It will soon be put to work swapping motors: someone is looking to soup-up their ride!
I recently installed a pair of Walthers traffic lights at the intersection; here a worker finishes up the job. This light faces Market Street.
The other light faces west-bound traffic on County Lane. This light is actually temporary; I have another pair of overhead lights that I bought from Shapways that I have yet to paint. One will go here, the other will face the east-bound traffic on County Lane.
Another update is that I added a touch of weathering to the Salvation Army building. It's hard to see, but if you click on the picture, it becomes a bit easier to see. I plan to add mortar to more of the brick buildings on the layout, to make them -and the layout- more realistic.

PASSING TRAINS PT 19; DN39 PT 3

 The conclusion of DN39...

Among the trailers in the train is this Vermont Railroad 53' van. These trailers seem to show up in intermodal trains with surprising regularity.
Yet another JB Hunt container, this time on a chassis.
More C.R. England reefers, in two different paint schemes.
An XTRA Lease refrigerated trailer.
An England Intermodal reefer.
A regular C.R. England reefer. With DN39's expedited scheduling, these reefers loads -container and trailer- will make it to those Northeast markets in no time!
Yet another JB Hunt reefer trailer brings up the rear, as DN39 rolls on to the intermodal yard in New York City. From there, the trailers and containers will be trucked to their final destinations.

PASSING TRANS PT19; DN39 PT2

 Train DN39 continues...

Another C.R. England reefer box, along with a JB Hunt reefer, riding atop a pair of HUB GROUP dry boxes. Note that the HUB containers match the lettering colors of the respective reefers atop them!
More JB Hunt containers, including a well-weathered box in the lower position.
A number of Hunt containers are in the train, including the popular "How cool is that" reefer.
A mix of older JB Hunt and newer JB Hunt Intermodal containers.
Still more Hunt boxes! DN39 is starting to look a lot like JBHKCT110!
Behind the stacks, are the spine cars. And while there is, of course, more Hunt equipment, there is also equipment from other carriers as well -including more C.R. England. Stay tuned next week for the conclusion of DN39!

PASSING TRAINS PT 19; DN39 PT1

 Another day, another intermodal train...

DN39, the Dayton, Oh-NYC intermodal, rolls in.
Today, the train is led by a pair of GE ES44AC's; AP&W 9485, and NS' Southern-painted Heritage unit 8099.
The first car is a dirty well car, with a pair of C.R. England reefer boxes,.
The second car is a CIE INTERMODAL three-unit car, with a pair of CIE INTERMODAL containers stacked in the first well. Note the top container is a reefer, as are the C.R. England containers in the next well.
A string of JB Hunt boxes, including reefers. Note the rare (on the East Coast) grey "Ocean Certified" container. These are much more common on the West Coast.
A broadside view of 9485, showing the missing frame striping on the front(!), as it passes the AEI readers.
And trailing unit 8099, showing off her green and white paint. She has since gotten both her side lettering and end heralds touched up, as well as being updated with PTC equipment. (While I'm happy with this Intermountain unit, Scale Trains is doing 8099 as she currently appears. And I have a growing fleet of Scale Trains locos. Possibility?)

More DN39 next week.
